Venerdì nero

Yes, it's Black Friday here in Italy but not because of the door-busting sales (the government only allows sales to happen twice a year and, in my opinion, they are pretty lame. If those purple lamé snakeskin boots weren't cute when they first came out, they certainly aren't any cuter end of season on markdown...). There's a strike - see picture of typical Milanese tram with handwritten "Today strike" sign - today. If yesterday's traffic picture looked bad, you can only imagine today's what with there not being any public transportation and everyone with a car or motorbike having to use it. The good news is that I'm working from home. Fashion news and info halts for no woman. The bad news is that my day is insane. I've got two translations for one magazine, an article due for another magazine, copy I have to write for a website of Cristiano's...and the day goes on like that. And let us not forget - it is also
World AIDS Day.

Hi Michelle.
They love a strike here; There seems to be one every week. I had to leave home extra early today so that I could travel in the fascia garantita. That’s all I need on a Friday, to get up at 5:55!

And to think people imagine us here in a sunny piazza just having an espresso and kicking back...
